Aside from performing impromptu cuts on the dog and cat when I was a child, and setting aside the various tonsorial experiments with friends and family during my teens, my career as a stylist truly began when I was 19 and graduated from cosmetology school. I embarked on a fruitful one year color apprenticeship under one of Portland's most respected color specialists. From my lessons in color, I moved on to another apprenticeship, this time in cutting — receiving some of the best instruction I could possibly ask for. Before long I was out on the floor and honing my skills and building a wonderful client base, many of whom I still have on my books a decade later.
My desire to increase my skill set did not end with my apprenticeships. Since then I have participated in rigorous programs with the likes of Toni & Guy, Bumble & bumble, Shwartzkopf, Wella and various classes up and down the west coast.
I love this industry because there is constant change and growth, innumerable avenues to explore my creativity and receive inspiration from the work of others, the bonus of building close relationships with people from all areas of life — all the while, helping them to look and feel great.
