Spring 2010:

Welcome Ash!

We would like to welcome the newest addition to the Blü Team, Ash Benincosa. Ash joins us after beginning a brief, but illustrious career in hair in Southern Cal. With her several years of building a solid foundation and her strong desire to actively particpate in continuing education, we are excited and pleased to feature her many talents at Blü!

Ladies Nights

Come spend a fabulous evening with our Blü stylists to learn the professional’s secrets to hair styling. For only $10 per person, we treat you and a girl friend (your friend should not be a current client at Blü) to some wine (or tea, if that’s your preference!), yummy noshables and a relaxing shampoo, therapeutic mask and personalized styling session. We even top off the night with a goody bag including free Bumble product!

In addition to all of the above, we also regularly invite some of Portland’s finest artists and craftspeople to showcase and sell their creations. We’ve featured beautiful handmade jewelry, hip clothing, amazing art, fabulous hair accessories and more for your shopping and/or browsing delight!

Ladies Night takes place the third Thursday of each month and spaces are limited, so call the salon today to book out your evening of beauty, knowledge and fun in advance.

Fashion Show

In late May, the Blü crew has been invited to style hair for a fashion show with one of Portland’s finest clothing boutiques, Sofada.

There will be around 15 beautiful models, gorgeous designs by Sofada and hot runway hair by Team Blü!

More info coming soon…

Education

The staff at Blü continues to enhance their skills and knowledge through continual education. The more we know, the more we can help you look your best!

Spring 2010:

AG Cutting Class
Tricia Snedden, our Network Educator, will be attending a hands-on AG cutting class on 3/29/10. She will learn leading-edge techniques for the graduated bob, long layers and short (sassy!) haircuts.

On 4/6/10 Trish will be bringing her knowledge to life as she leads an in-house demonstration and uses her great teaching ablity to impart her new knowledge to the rest of Team Blü. Education feeds our passion for hair!

Ongoing: Blü Apprenticeship Program

We believe that all of our stylists need to have a strong technical foundation to make them the best that they can be and to deliver the best quality to our valued clientele. Each person in our salon has received extensive advanced one-on-one training in precision cutting, razor cutting, advanced color techniques as well as each and every service offered at Blü. One of the fundamentals of our in-house training program is to reinforce that our training really never ends! As hair professionals, each member of the Blüü team is dedicated to continually honing their craft and taking pride in fulfilling each client’s unique needs.

Monthly: Bumble and bumble Class
Tricia Snedden, our Network Educator, provides the staff with Bumble and bumble product and technical instruction based on her own continuing formal education at BbU.

Bimonthly: Wella color class
We continue to receive great support from one of our primary vendors. Regular training in leading edge techniques and innovative products ensures that our staff is equipped with the best tools to suit your individual needs.

2010: BbU Training in NYC!
Several members of the Blü team recently returned from Business School at Bumble and bumble University in NYC. Our management team returned pumped up and inspired by the knowledge they gained during Bumble's Business Immersion II program. This five day program enabled our team members to become better leaders, more empowered managers and unparalleled providers of great service. It challenged our owner and management staff to further define our brand, build strong teams, create structure, and establish the foundation for a healthy, creative and commercial culture. The entire staff has been energized since the team's return and we're all looking forward to applying these concepts this year and beyond.

Blü is looking to add an experienced stylist to our team!

Blü stylists have put their skills on display:

Sofada benefit fashion show, Fall 2008:

In September, Blü stylists took a very active role in the Cares Northwest benefit fashion show to help aid in child abuse prevention. The show was put on in partnership with the hot local fashion boutique Sofada. Team leader Tricia Snedden orchestrated the effort as she and Blü stylist Sara worked backstage and created amazing hair for more than 20 models. The hip clothes were complemented perfectly by the great hair design executed by our whole team. The event was a total success - lots of fun for our team and an admirable cause supporting our community.

For more information about Cares Northwest, please see their website

For a bit more about the show itself, check out this article on the OregonLive site.

Jones New York makeover fashion shoot, Fall 2008:

Tricia also did the hair and make-up for the Jones New York “In the Classroom” photo-shoot. The photo shoot chronicled the transformation of several teachers in the Portland area who won makeovers and Scholastic brand educational materials for their classroom, courtesy of Jones New York. The program reminded us that teachers are really amazing in the work they provide for our kids and community and they were certainly most deserving of this great experience. Their program seeks to highlight some of the best of the best and encourage appreciation of all teachers. Check out more details and some of the program results on the Jones New York website.

Paul Green's School of Rock benefit fashion show, sponsored by Blü, Fall 2008:

The Blü crew got to rock out with their locks out! In cooperation with the Paul Green's School of Rock Portland campus and the fine folks at the Hawthorne Theater, our stylists helped to create a wild and sexy runway show complemented by the live performances of some of the School's most gifted young musicians. A silent auction was held and, thanks to some generous folks and a decent turnout, the event raised over $500 to help fund a scholarship to the School for children who would have otherwise missed out on their great instruction and positive environment. For more info about the School, check out their website.
